19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
